Adventures in baseball...

One of my favorite things about summer is baseball. I love watching it no matter the age, and it's even better when I get to watch my kids play. This year Adam was old enough to go to a team that played coach pitch instead of T-ball. Which was great for him because last year at t-ball he was really annoyed and would rather just be pitched to.

Here is a picture of my little pro player hitting the ball. If you look just to the right of his coach in the red/blue you can see the ball at his elbow!?!
Adam was the best hitter on his team and would often hit it into the outfield over the other teams head! I was so proud of him and he is so excited to play next year, I think we are going to do some pitching machine then though.

Wyatt on the other hand was NOT a huge fan of baseball this year. We put him on a t-ball team with a bunch of kids that he knows, coached by a good friend of mine, that Wyatt also knows, and I was hoping that would help him want to play more. It didn't. Out of the 6 weeks that they played, he only played in an entire game once. Before then he would do practice, but once the game started he would refuse to go out and would lay on a blanket and cry if I made him go.

Here he is all gung-ho and ready to go just before his first game started. I was so proud of him! Isn't he just adorable? I think so, not that I'm biased or anything :)

And this is how he ended up for most of the rest of his games. Hiding under a blanket laying on my lap. Occasionally he would let me go on the field with him and he would stand and "play", but it would usually last no longer than 5 minutes, and those 5 minutes consisted of me struggling with him just to stay in the first place. Poor kid just didn't want to play. Maybe it was the age, maybe he is just shy, or maybe he just doesn't like sports? Who knows, but it sure was cute to watch both the boys this year, it kept our summer evenings pretty busy that's for sure! Hope you all had a good summer too!

Oh boy, it's been a while!

Wow what a summer it has been, and by "has been" I mean it is officially over now. Sad I know. Today I got to talking to a friend of mine, Meaghan and our blogs came up and I realized how much I have neglected mine. With good excuses I might add:

School
Family Reunion
School
Cabin trip with Ben's family
School
My brother in law Ryan passed away :(
AND...school.

This really was one on the craziest summers I have ever had. Having never taken summer school before, I feel like I was a little unprepared at first and didn't realize how much time it was going to take. Then throw in all the family gatherings we did, while I was writing papers in the background while everyone else was having a great time. But straight A's this summer shows me it was all worth it!

Then there was the passing of my brother in law Ryan. Such a sweet kid, only 21. Ben and Ryan were really close and so it has been really hard on him of course, especially since his death was very sudden and unexpected. He will be greatly missed and we are excited for the day when we will see him again.

School has started up again, I only had a two week break between summer and fall classes and it was filled by a few days at the cabin in Alpine with Ben's family, then the rest was filled with funeral arrangements and gatherings. So I feel like I never really got out of school mode. Which is good for my schedule and mindset in a way, but probably not so good for my sanity. As if I ever had any in the first place.

However, I did manage to make some raspberry jam that is AMAZING, Adam started 1st grade this week and he also learned to ride his bike with no training wheels this summer. That is until somebody ran over his bike at the family reunion :(

Ben's job is going well and the contractor is getting ready to change, so we are excited to see what that means for his job. I say excited because I don't want to worry about the new company coming in and laying people off (Which Ben assures me won't happen) but I can't help but worry. Ben also got a new 4 wheeler this summer and has already been injured on it. He tipped it on the side and it hit his ankle, which swelled up like crazy! But no broken bones so it's all good!

Wyatt is as crazy as ever! His hair is getting so long, and dark! He has tons of attitude but in a good way (mostly) and he is becoming such a little man. Mr. Independent for sure.

So that's a quick recap, I will hopefully soon do an update on more specific things and bring some fun pictures to the blog, but until then at least you know a little of what's going on with us right now. Have a good day!
